The Taiwan International Youth Ambassador Association held its founding general meeting on May 28. The association is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was represented by Minister Lin Chia-lung at the event. Lin interacted with young people from various fields and jointly witnessed the official launch of the association. With the establishment of the NGO, youth diplomacy in Taiwan is embarking on a new institutionalized, interdisciplinary, and professionalized stage.

In his remarks, Lin said that since its launch in 2019, the International Youth Ambassador Exchange Program had empowered over 1,900 talented young people from the such fields as diplomacy, culture, technology, agriculture, education, and public affairs. Lin said he hoped that the new association would further connect past youth ambassadors and other members of the younger generation with experience in international exchanges to create a key platform for Taiwan’s public diplomacy and global participation. He added that former agricultural youth ambassadors, diplomatic alternative military service conscripts, TaiwanICDF volunteers, teen diplomats, participants in the Taiwan Global Pathfinders Initiative, and other young people with experience in international exchanges and international affairs would be invited to join the organization. Lin explained that the aim was to further expand Taiwan’s diplomatic talent pool and let the world see a more diverse Taiwan through various cross-sectoral channels.

Moving forward, MOFA will work together with the NGO to encourage members to visit Taiwan’s diplomatic allies in coordination with the International Youth Ambassador Program, support youth campaigns on international issues, and send delegations on exchange visits to Europe and North America. The initiative will create a networking platform for young people from different fields of expertise.
