Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi presided over the closing ceremony of the third NGO Fellowship Program at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 7. The event was attended by Rebecca King-ying Wang, Chairperson of the Taiwan Alliance in International Development (Taiwan AID); Jennifer Steffensen, Public Diplomacy Officer at the American Institute in Taiwan, Taipei Office; and other guests.

In his remarks, Chen said that the project was planned and implemented by Taiwan AID with reference to the US Department of State’s Professional Fellows Program. This year, 12 NGO representatives from 11 Asian countries took part. Participants contributed professional expertise in fields such as health, rights of persons with disabilities, education, media, and child protection. Chen said he believed that four weeks of internships and exchanges in Taiwan had helped the participants in capacity building and network strengthening. He added that the success of the program fully demonstrated the outcomes of Taiwan-US cooperation in promoting Taiwan as a regional training hub for NGO talent in Asia.
