On June 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a reunion for youth ambassadors titled “NextGen Diplomats.” The event was hosted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung. Over 300 people took part, including past youth ambassadors and delegation leaders as well as members of the diplomatic corps from host countries.

“Once a youth ambassador, always an ambassador for Taiwan,” Lin said, speaking at the event. He encouraged the young participants to remember why they had travelled overseas to represent Taiwan and urged them to continue to speak up for Taiwan, realizing the spirit of everyone being a diplomat.

In her remarks, Ambassador for Belize Candice Pitts praised the international youth ambassadors for their long-standing contributions to exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and other countries around the world. She also encouraged the participants to continue to pursue their dreams, explore the world, and turn their passion for Taiwan into actions to promote international friendship.

For the reunion, MOFA arranged performances, organized an exhibition, and showed a video looking back at past activities. Many former youth ambassadors said that taking part in the program was a turning point in their lives. In addition to learning about frontline diplomatic work, they had also picked up communication and teamwork skills. They said the experience had significantly influenced their career paths.
