Changhua Christian Hospital (hereafter referred to as "CCH") co-hosted the "International Online Conference on Smart Healthcare Technology and Patient Safety" with Taiwan Patient Safety Culture Club on August 27th (Friday), 2021. This conference featured professional speakers from healthcare institutions, industries, and educational institutions in Taiwan, Japan, the United States, and Thailand. They shared online and went live on YouTube about applying medical technology to increase patient safety and enhance the patient service experience. We had almost 600 participants from healthcare institutions, industries, and educational institutions at home and abroad at this event, making the conference a huge success.

This year marks the 125th anniversary of CCH. We've launched two international online conferences with the topic "Smart Healthcare Technology and Patient Safety" on August 27th and "The Impact and Response of the Medical Professional Education in the Post-pandemic Era" on September 27th. In this conference, we invited Dr. Mu-Kuan Chen, MD, Ph.D., Superintendent of CCH for opening remarks, Mr. Wei-Ming Hsu, Deputy Representative of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Thailand, and Dr. Yen-Po Yeh, MD, Ph.D., Director of Changhua County Public Health Bureau for congratulatory remarks. Besides, there were well-known speakers includes Dr. William C. Wilson, MD, MA, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Masimo Corporation, Dr. Shin Ushiro, MD, Ph.D., Professor and Director of Division of Patient Safety, Kyushu University Hospital, and Dr. Poonpong Boonbrahm, Ph.D., Dean of School of Informatics, Walailak University. Speakers to shared patient safety care and create a safe and high-quality health care environment with the scientific-based approach, innovative technology, and best practices. It was also an opportunity to network and explore various aspects of the creative ideas in enhancing the international competitiveness of medical quality through this online conference, especially during the post-pandemic era.

In addition, CCH also had the Patient Safety Movement Foundation 5-Star Hospital Award. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation has presented awards to 11 hospitals worldwide, and Changhua Christian Hospital is the first in Asia. We received encouragement from the Patient Safety Movement Foundation CEO David Mayer and awarding from Dr. Mingi Chan Liao, who is a delegate of the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. Superintendent Dr. Mu-Kuan Chen said that all the staff in Changhua Christian Hospital would keep devoting to patient safety commitment and creating a culture for health care quality to prevent harm to patients.
