Known as the “Nobel Prize of Nursing”, the Christiane Reimann Prize has recently announced the list of winners. Dr. Sheuan Lee, alumni of the National Defense Medical Center, former Minister without Portfolio of the Examination Yuan, supervisor of the Taiwan Nurses Association, and advisor to the Taiwan Union of Nurses Association won the award and became the first person in Taiwan to win this internationally renowned award.

According to the information published on August 1, 2021 by the Military News Agency (MNA) of the Ministry of National Defense (MND), the International Council of Nurses (ICN) has recently announced the list of winners of the Christiane Reimann Prize. Chair Professor and Academic Vice President Sheuan Lee of Meiho University was awarded this prize. According to MND, this quadrennial prize aims to recognize nursing experts with international  influence in nursing or outstanding achievement in nursing for the benefit of mankind and is globally recognized as the most important prize in the profession of nursing.

MND added that Lee has been engaging in nursing for 48 years and promoted a range of nursing reforms in her career, with distinguished contributions to the development of Taiwan’s nursing system, and “She is well deserved for this international award.” MND also revealed that Lee is actively promoting the “title rectification for community nurses”, hoping to smoothly get on track with the “Long-Term Care 2.0” policy when Taiwan is facing the global trend of population aging. In the future, Lee will continue to promote education and training for nursing managers and nurses to uphold the “empowerment” concept and become “health care designers” in addition to being “caregivers”.
