On 10 of August, 2021, Ambassador Calvin Ho attended the handover ceremony of two 40-foot containers of relief goods, donated by the SimplyHelp Foundation and the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, to the people and government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The said items were received by the Hon. Keisal Peters, Minister of State with Responsibility for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, joined by Ms. Michelle Forbes, Director of National Emergency Management Organisation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
In his remark, Ambassador Ho stated that for many years, the SimplyHelp Foundation collaborates with the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in contributing relief goods for people in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Following the previous donation of a 20-foot container earlier in July, SimplyHelp partners with the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation and donates two 40-foot containers which include over 2,209 boxes of relief items to those affected by volcano eruption and COVID-19 pandemic in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It is believed that the items will definitely comfort those who are suffering.
On behalf of the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Minister Peters expressed her thanks to the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the kindhearted Taiwan diasporas for their various support ever since the volcanic eruption. NEMO director Forbes shared her gratitude to the donations and support rendered by Taiwan for the displaced Vincentians in the shelters.
This donation ceremony is part of the Embassy’s series events in celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. As both countries continue on working closely in all areas of mutual cooperation, the donation made today no doubt symbolizes the partnership between the two countries.
