The Ministry of Foreign Affairs encourages INGOs to set up headquarters, secretariats, and branch offices in Taiwan. INGOs that meet the requirements stipulated by MOFA may apply for startup expense subsidies.
1. Available subsidies
- (1) Startup expenses: Startup expense subsidies for INGOs established after 2019 are capped at 30% of total INGO startup expenses. Each INGO is eligible for a one-time subsidy.
- (2) First-year rent subsidy: Rent subsidies for INGOs established after 2019 are capped at 30% of total rent during the first year of establishment in Taiwan. Each INGO is eligible for a one-time subsidy.
2. Applications must be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within 60 days after registration of the INGO. The following documents must be included in the application:
- (1) Application letter
- (2) Work plan specifying the purpose of establishing the INGO in Taiwan, expected benefits, etc.
- (3) Photocopy of registration certificate issued by the competent authority.
- (4) Budget and financial reports listing all sources and amounts of funding, including money raised by the INGO, subsidies from other authorities, and donations.
Note:
Applications are reviewed in accordance with the Directions for the Provision of Subsidies by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Civil Associations for International Exchanges and Activities and related regulations.
